Josh's Reflection
All throughout the literature, media, and other resources discussed and analyzed on this site, the underlying theme is that teenagers are immature. For instance, Holden Caulfield's loss of innocence and immaturity is quite obviously seen all throughout the novel The Catcher in the Rye. In addition to this book, I have noticed that in most of the novels we have read this year, teenagers have a negative connotation associated with them. Whether it be their incapacity to learn or their unwillingness to act like a "proper" citizen in society, teens throughout all literature have something wrong with them. Therefore, I have discovered that I can learn a thing or two from the teens that we have studied throughout the year and in this manifesto. In today's world, kids like me are scrutinized just for being teenagers. This is one aspect of society that is totally incorrect in my opinion. We should be accepted for who are and not just generalized by this unfair label that has been put on us. That is why I want our generation to spark a change and eliminate this motif about teenagers. We should constantly be doing our best to be good and honest people, and try to be the best group in our society. Therefore, after completing this manifesto with my friends, I have gained more knowledge of how to be a better person and role model to those below me. By acting more mature and working hard, I can influence others around me to do the same and eliminate the falsehood that surrounds us teens.
