The loss of innocence within teenagers is one of the key developments that these teens go through as they begin their journey into the adult world. As children go through their lives, ultimately they will be exposed to the impurities of the world, and will lose their childhood innocence. The literature we have read accentuates this fact by observing adolescents as they begin to lose their innocence. When teens lose their innocence they will be judged more harshly by society. They no longer have the childish nature about them that allows adults to forgive their mischief. There are many events within the literature where characters are judged by society for their mistakes. This is true in the real world as well, where teenagers are chastised for their errors. |

"Let It Go" performed by Idina Menzel accurately illustrates the theme "loss of innocence" because Elsa is leaving home to avoid hiding her true self. |
