What Makes Me a Teenager - Justin Coutts
One might find it hypocritical to learn that teenagers wrote the content located throughout this site. Much of the analysis had a negative connotation regarding the actions and thoughts that teenagers typically have. However, being a teenager, I personally have experienced many of these obstacles and themes. Throughout completing this manifesto, I was able to identify some of the foolishness that has come along with the journey of adolescence, and hopefully will be able to build upon what I have learned to strive for maturity. All of these pieces of literature, media, news stories, etc. have been able to help me in realizing that even though I will make decisions, some with negative consequences, everything will propel me forward in life. Whether its learning from a mistake or rejoicing in success, every aspect of my journey through adolescence will contribute to my characteristics of empathy, experience, and maturity. These mistakes make me a teenager, and whether I chose to learn from them or remain in a dark, miserable place like Holden Caulfield, is completely up to me. Therefore, after reflecting on what I have learned in this project, I have been able to implicate my newly gained knowledge into my everyday life.
